Irish Water has announced a major infrastructure project for Ennis.
The new state utility along with Clare County Council is invest 3.7 million euro in the replacement of water mains across the town.
Irish Water has signed a new contract with Ward and Burke Construction for 3.7 million euro Watermains Rehabilitation Works.
The prject involves the replacing of approximately 17 kilometers of water mains in Ennis town and surrounding areas.
The works also include the replacement of 95 backyard and 978 front of house service connections
The areas taken in by the works which will be carried out in conjunction with Clare County Council are the Clarecastle Claureen Roundabout, Lahinch Road and Kilrush Road.
Irish Water says the project will deliver significant improvements in network performance, customer service and maintenance costs
