Three institutes of technology in Munster are coming together with a proposal to establish a technological university in the southwest.
Limerick Tralee and Cork Institutes of Technology are proposing a third level institution with campuses in five counties – and an initial enrolment of over 24-thousand students.
They envisage that Munster Technology University – or MTU – will meet the criteria for full university status – and say they will seek university designation at the earliest opportunity.
