It’s been confirmed the 2013 National Famine Commemoration will take place in Kilrush on May 12th.
President Michael D. Higgins will lead official representation at the event, which will conclude a 10-day programme of events to be held in and around the West Clare Town.

Ahead of the events, community leaders and groups from across West Clare have been invited to a Meeting at Kilrush Golf Club this coming Tuesday.
The Commemoration was first held in 2009, and this year is to be held in Kilrush which was one of the worst affected areas during the Famine.
