Almost €2.5 million in funding has been announced in forestry premium payments to Clare landowners.
The annual tax free payment is paid to farmers and landowners who plant trees under the Department of Agriculture’s afforestation scheme.
Forest cover within Clare is the third highest in the country behind only Wicklow and Leitrim.

Inagh-based Green Party Senator Roisin Garvey believes the funding gives a chance to farmers in Clare to diversify their enterprise.
