The ESB says rural areas are not being ruled out from benefitting from a new high powered broadband venture.
The state utility is teaming up with Vodafone to fibre optic services to Ennis, Shannon and over 40 other towns across the country.

However it does not specifically cover areas outside of those urban centres.
Denis O'Leary, Head of Smart Energy Technologies with ESB, says if providers want to, then the technology can be used in rural areas.
