New car registrations in Clare for the month of January have increased by nearly 20% compared to the same month last year.
Figures released in the Motorcheck.ie Car Index show that 388 new cars were registered in Clare in January of 2010, up from 312 one year ago.
The increase of nearly 20% is much higher than the national average which registers at just 4.6%.

Figures for Clare also show that diesel cars outsold petrol models by a ratio of almost two-to-one.
The figures still mark a big fall from the Celtic Tiger years – almost 1000 new cars were registered in Clare in January of 2008.
