There’ll be two new first citizens in the towns of Shannon and Ennis today.
Both town Councils will hold their annual General meetings this evening.
In Shannon, outgoing Mayor Sean McLaughlin will pass his mayoral chains over to a party colleague under a mayoral pact formed between four Fine Gael Councillors and one Independent member.

While in Ennis, outgoing Mayor Frankie Neylon is expected to hand over the role of Council Chairperson to a fellow Independent Councillor as part of a cross party arrangement
