The newly elected first citizen of Kilrush is vowing to build on local business, tourism and community initiatives during her forthcoming term in office.
Independent Councillor and Deputy Mayor Mairead O’Brien took over the mayoral chains from Fine Gael’s Ian Lynch at the urban council’s AGM last night.

Surrounded by family and friends at the town council offices ,she was unanamously elected to the position by her fellow colleagues with independent Paul Moroney nominated as vice Mayor of Kilrush.
