News on the future of the Aughinish Alumina plant in Limerick is expected to be made known by the end of August.
Clare’s Junior Minister Pat Breen is on a trade mission to Washington DC this week, where the plant has been one of the top priorities in discussions.
Doubt was cast over the future of the plant, which employs 680 people directly with a further 1,000 jobs indirectly supported, after sanctions were imposed on its Russian owners by the US.
