Nine beaches in Clare have retained their blue flag status.

While, Bishop's Quarter in Ballyvaughan and Seafield in Quilty have retained their Green Coast Flags.

The beaches are judged on water quality, facilities for visitors, management, litter control, environmental education and the provision of information.

Clare County Council's Water Safety Development Officer, Clare McGrath, who's at today's ceremony in Portmarnock is welcoming the news.
