No Community Transmission Of Variants Of Concern So Far In Midwest

A specialist in Public Health Medicine says there’s currently no evidence of community transmission of the Indian, Brazilian or South African variants of Covid-19 in the Midwest.

It follows a slight rise in the number of cases of the virus in Clare over the past ten days, with Public Health Midwest confirming 38 cases here between Sunday, May 16th and this past Saturday, May 22nd.

Dr Rose Fitzgerald is urging people not to become complacent, saying there has been an increase in cases in workplaces, schools and in households in this county.

She says the UK variant remains the dominant one in this region.
