Enhancements to market trading in the town of Ennis could see illegally parked cars being towed away.
New Casual trading by-laws are aimed at improving conditions for market trading, as well as customer safety but also emphasises traders rights to designated spaces in the Marketplace, having paid to trade there.
Ennis Councillors couldn’t decide on the issue last evening though, due to a protracted row over plans to tow away cars parked in market stall spaces on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday mornings.
Labour Councillor Paul O’Shea was one of many members who felt motorists could be unfairly penalised and deterred from doing business in Ennis under the new laws.
