The Transport Minister says it’s ‘unlikely’ that the controversial Limerick Northern Distributor Road will get the green light for some time.
While stressing that the route is important for Limerick City and it’s surrounding areas in County Clare, Leo Varadkar has told the Dáil that he doesn’t think it likely that construction will begin in the near future.
A preferred route for the road, which proposes to link Coonagh with Parteen, Ardnacrusha, UL and the old Limerick/Dublin Road has been published, and a public consultation phase is ongoing.
It has also been the subject of protests in recent weeks, but Minister Varadkar says movement on the project is unlikely in the near-term.
