An apartment block in Ennis was evacuated and traffic in the town centre was disrupted after a fire broke out last evening.
The alarm was raised just after 4:30, when smoke was seen coming from an upstairs apartment.

Gardaí, paramedics and two units of the fire service from Ennis attended the scene and fire personnel entered the building to ensure no one was trapped inside.
The fire was reportedly located in an empty upper level apartment, and no one was injured.
The blaze was brought under control, and fire personnel were stood down before 7 o'clock, but part of O'Connell Street had to be closed off to traffic for the duration of the operation.
