No Time Frame In Place For Delivery Of Short-Term Beds At UHL

The Government has moved to reassure that 60 beds will be delivered at University Hospital Limerick as a short-term solution to tackle overcrowding, but no timeline has been given.

It’s on the back of concerns raised by Limerick Fine Gael Senator Kieran O’Donnell that the closure of the A&E units at Ennis, Nenagh and St John’s Hospital almost 10 years ago is still impacting the health system locally.

The modular beds would provide an interim solution to the persistently high numbers who are forced to wait on trolleys at the Dooradoyle facility.

Minister of State at the Department of Health Catherine Byrne says delivering these beds remains a priority.
