Non-Emergency Surgery Cancelled At UHL As Overcrowding Spike Continues

All non-emergency surgery has been cancelled at the region’s main hospital, as overcrowding continues to spike.

It comes as the number of people seeking admission to Irish hospitals has reached a record high for the second day in a row – with 677 people without a bed today.

University Hospital Limerick has one of the highest figures at 53 and management are urging people to attend their GP and vaccinate against flu in the first instance to relieve pressure on the system.
