The community of North Clare is said to be in shock following the death of TJ McDonagh.
The 38 year old lost his life following a work related incident in Liscannor.
Mr McDonagh is survived by his mother Mary father Tommy, three sisters and one brother.
It's understood Mr McDonagh was working on a lorry in Liscannor when the incident occured at about 7.30 last evening.
He'd been inflating a tyre on the lorry next to a Garage – when a part came loose and struck him in the head.
A member of his family came to his assistance and alerted emergency services immediately.
However efforts to save him were unsuccessful.
Gardaí and the Health and Safety Authority have both launched investigations.
A forensic examination of the scene will be conducted by Gardaí and HSA investigators are expected to visit it as part of their enquiries.
Originally from Doolin Mr McDonagh was well known across North Clare.
Mattie Shannon, Irish Coast Guard Area Officer,is one of those who attended the scene.
