Nurses Say Strike Action Will Go Ahead On Tuesday

Nurses have described ongoing overcrowding in emergency departments as "completely demoralising" and they believe there have been patient deaths as a result of the problem.

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation has announced that strike action will go ahead next Tuesday, due to management’s ‘total failure’ to address the staffing crisis.

Two hour rolling work stoppages are due to start at seven hospitals across the country, between 8 on Tuesday morning and 4 in the afternoon.

Emergency Nurse Karen McGowan says it’s impossible to do her job.
