Obama: Assad Regime Did Use Chemical Weapons

The US President says the United States has concluded that the Assad regime carried out a chemical weapons attack against civilians in Syria last week.

But – speaking to a U.S. network – Barack Obama made clear, he has not yet made a decision about a potential strike against Syrian forces.

Obama said he has received a number of options from his national security team about how best to respond to last week’s chemical weapons attack. President Obama says the US doesn’t want to wage war with Syria – but the Assad regime must face the consequences of its actions.

Meanwhile, in England, MP’s return to Parliament early today to discuss Britain’s response to Syria.

But – there will be NO vote on British military action – after a political change of heart from the Prime Minister in the face of opposition from Labour and backbenchers.

A second vote will take place once a report by UN weapons inspectors has been published.
