O’Leary Rows Into Aer Lingus Debate

As speculation continues about the IAG takeover bid, Michael O'Leary says more Irish passengers choose to use other London airports.

The Taoiseach yesterday demanded a 'cast-iron guarantee' on Aer Lingus 'connectivity', before a formal offer is considered by the government. While County Councillors here in Clare will today hold an emergency meeting on the issue.

But Mr O'Leary, whose company is a 30 per cent shareholder, says he wants to see a 'common sense' approach to the Heathrow discussions.

Public representatives and business people here have raised concerns about the impact the descision could have on the Midwest's airport if the sale were to go through.
