Lufthansa flight LH-411 turned around near the Welsh coast and diverted to Shannon after the crew reported they had an ill passenger on board.

The Airbus A340-600 landed safely in Shannon at around quarter to 6 this morning, and was met at the terminal by airport authorities and National Ambulance Service paramedics.

The passenger was removed by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick along with a companion and the flight continued to Munich about two hours later.

A spokesperson for Lufthansa has said the airline puts the safety and well-being of its passengers and crew at first priority and that it’s asking the other passengers on this flight for their understanding for the delay caused.
