Plans to have Ennis to Galway train services operating in the New Year have been derailed by the widespread flooding.
Work on the track was completed at the start of November and driver training began last Monday, however Iranród Eireann says its been forced to abandon this due to floodwaters in Ennis, Gort, Ardrahan and Labane and other areas.

Services on the first phase of the Western Rail Corridor were due to start on the 9th of January but have now been postponed indefinitely.
