Representatives from the Office of Public Works are to face questions on the ongoing flooding problems at Ballycar, Newmarket on Fergus today.
Seasonal flooding has forced the closure of the main Ennis to Limerick rail line on numerous occasions, with commuter services only restored to normal this month following weeks of disruption.
Iarnrod Eireann has been asked to brief Clare Councillors on the need for improvements to the rail line but has already stated that flood alleviation works will require contributions from Clare County Council and the Office of Public Works.
OPW representatives will attend a meeting of the County Council today and Newmarket on Fergus Councillor Pat McMahon is hoping they’ll have practical plans to end the ongoing problems at Ballycar.
