Almost five dozen people are on trolleys at University Hospital Limerick today.
According to the Irish Nurses and Midwives organisation there are 55 patients on trolleys between the emergency department and over flow areas of wards.

The UL hospital's group says it has enacted its escalation plan and patients are being transferred to Ennis General and other facilities in the group to deal with the problem.
Some surgeries have also been cancelled today as a result of the situation.
