Nurses are reporting overcrowding problems at Ennis General Hospital this week.
8 patients were awaiting treatment on trollies in Ennis last evening, with the situation at the local A and E showing little improvement on the previous day when 9 people were left without beds.
The situation in Limerick is similar to Ennis though much improved on recent weeks, with the Irish Nurses and Mid-Wives Organisation reporting 10 patients of trollies at Limerick Regional last evening.
The latest figures follow calls for a ‘crisis summit’ on the running of the health service from the INMO, as the Health Service Executive implements cut backs across the HSE West area and Minister Mary Harney warns more cost saving measures will be required.
