Farmers in North Clare and South Galway will begin to receive their Year 2 payments under the Burren Farming for Conservation Programme from this Friday.
143 farmers in the Burren area will receive an average of 6,800 euro as part of the scheme, which encourages more environmentally friendly farming the ecologically sensitive area.

A range of footpaths have been opened up, 20km of walls have been repaired and a major shift away from the feeding of silage has been recorded in the programme’s first year, and Clare Fine Gael Senator Tony Mulcahy is confident that it will continue to be a great success
