Gardaí have extended the period of detention of two men held in connection with a security breach at Shannon Airport.
It's understood that two peace activists attempted to reach a US military aircraft in the early hours of this morning with the intention of searching it but were spotted and intercepted by Gardaí.

The men, aged in their 50's and 70's, were arrested and taken to Shannon Garda Station where they're being held under Air Navigation and Transport legislation.
Their period of detention was extended by another six hours this afternoon.
