The changes will see the end of acute surgery at Clare’s County Hospital at the weekends from July until October and at that stage all such operations will be centralised to Limerick Regional.
In a memo circulated to GPs across Clare Limerick and Tipperary the HSE has outlined the next stage in its plans to centralises services in the Mid West, which has already seen the removal of 24 hour A&E at Ennis General.
From tomorrow, cute surgery at Clare’s County Hospital will be phased out.with the procedures only being carried out from 8 AM on a Monday until 8 AM on Friday.
Weekend acute surgery patients from the county will go straight to Limerick.
It will be a similar situation at Nenagh but all such procedures will cease entirely at Saint John’s from tomorrow July 1st.
Then in October the plan will be to only have acute surgery for the region at Dooradoyle… all elective surgery patients for the three counties will go to Saint Johns. While Ennis General and Nenagh will take all day care procedures for the Mid West.
