The mother of Fanore teenager Phoebe Prince has accused those responsible for bullying her of engaging in "depraved behaviour".
The 15 year old took her own life after what was described as a relentless campaign against her at South Hadley High School in Massachusetts where her family had moved to from North Clare in 2009.
Earlier this year five teenagers were sentenced to probation and community service in connection with her death while, rape charges against a sixth were dropped at the request of Phoebe Prince’s parents.
Speaking on CNN in the US this week her mother Anne O’ Brien says the behaviour of the teenagers involved was incomprehensible to her and that the bullying was almost planned.
She went on to say that the level of aggression toward another human being was just beyond her understanding and that it was "astounding there was never an internal stop mechanism for some of these kids to say this is going too far. But I also think the culture in the school helped enable that.”
