Only 12 of the 226 dwellings given the go ahead so far this year are flats.

This year’s number is more than 10 percent above the same period in 2019, when 202 homes were given permission to be built in Clare.

It’s also more than double the same period last year, when just 105 homes were green lighted during the height of the first COVID-19 lockdown.

Going back to 2018, the number of units granted planning permissions this quarter has dropped by more than a third than the same timeframe in that year.

The 97 homes planned here compares to 470 in Limerick between April and June, 205 in Tipperary and 154 in Galway.
