Plans for minimum pricing on alcohol have been dealt a major blow – after the EU's highest court said it would be against European law.
Only a week after the Minister for Health published laws to pave the way for minimum alcohol prices here, the ECJ has found that similar laws in Scotland are contrary to EU legislation.

Leo Varadkar wants to charge a minimum price of two euro for a can of beer, and ten euro for a bottle of wine.
