The long wait for a new coastguard station in Doolin is set to end with the news that the Department of Transprot is set to lodge plans for a facility
Campaigners in North Clare have been looking for the new station for the past 12 years, and say it is urgently needed to replace the current facility which was built in 1920.
2009 was one of the busiest years for the Doolin coastguard with volunteers making 46 emergency call-outs.
