Plans to webcast council meetings is dropped

Clare County Council has dropped plans to stream its monthly meetings live on the net due to legal concerns.

The local authority also took the decision after hearing similar schemes elsewhere have been a turn-off.

Councillors heard that the online proceedings of  Dun Laoghaire/Rathdown meetings attracted an average of 35 viewers and that webcast meetings would cost 25 thousand euro a year.
