Clare’s four newly elected TDs will take up their seats in Dáil Éireann this morning, for the first sitting of the 33rd Dáil.
First-timers Cathal Crowe of Fianna Fáil and Sinn Féin’s Violet-Anne Wynne, along with Fine Gael’s returning TD Joe Carey and Independent Michael McNamara, who previously served as a Labour TD, are representing Clare in this government.
Formation talks have so far been unsuccessful, with no progress on a power-sharing agreement, while no party has anywhere near the required majority to rule.
Meelick Deputy Cathal Crowe is one of around 50 new faces to enter Leinster House today – he’s not pleased with the rate of work from Fine Gael so far.
Clare’s Sinn Féin TD Violet-Anne Wynne, meanwhile, says her party is sticking to its original plan in terms of focusing on a Sinn Féin led government with support from parties on the left.
Deputy Wynne says the electorate has spoken.
