The possibility of holding a Dáil debate on the findings of the final report of the Moriarty Tribunal will be discussed by party whips later today.
Fianna Fail has called for the report – which was published yesterday – to be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions immediately – while Sinn Fein says it requires immediate debate.
One of the findings was that a 50 thousand dollar donation to Fine Gael was made through Telenor on behalf of businessman Denis O’Brien’s company Esat Digifone.
Denis O’Brien says Fine Gael asked him for the donation for the party – which he gave.
It also concluded that former Fine Gael Minister Michael Lowry helped Denis O’Brien secure the state’s second mobile phone licence by giving him valuable information.
