Postmasters claim the Department of Social Protection is trying to shut them down after a change in payments policy.
The Department has written to 40 thousand part-time or casual workers in receipt of social welfare payments telling them they'll be getting their money via bank transfer.

No mention is made in the letter that they can still choose to receive a cheque.
The Postmasters Union say they'll lose 20 thousand customers who choose to cash their cheque's in post offices, as a result.
