The Shannon region could be in line for a significant economic boost with news that high-level talks have taken place regarding a potential new transatlantic service.
On a visit to Rhode Island, Taoiseach Enda Kenny has revealed that negotiations have been held regarding a possible service linking it's capital city Providence with Clare.

Though Rhode Island is America's smallest state, the area has a large Irish community and the airport there handles nearly four million passengers a year.
It's not known which airline would operate the route, if it went ahead, but Clare Fine Gael TD Pat Breen is optimistic that will occur.
