The Co-Chair of Mountshannon Community Council says Inis Cealtra being in the running for World Heritage status is a huge boost for the community.
Two of Clare County Council’s six applications to become part of a new Tentative List of potential World Heritage Properties for Ireland have been djudged to have potential.
This means that Holy Island (Inis Cealtra) and the the Cultural Landscape of the Burren Uplands may potentially be designated to be of outstanding universal value to humanity.

Joanne Dunphy-Allen, from Mountshannon, believes this will attract tourists to the area.
