Almost six thousand homes and businesses in North Clare have been left without power overnight.
A major fault on the system resulted in the loss of power for 5,674 premises in the Ennistymon, Lahinch and Lisdoonvaran areas overnight, while 874 customers in Doolin are also affected.
Crews from ESB are working to rectify the problem and hope to have power restored by 10 o’clock this morning.

Last night, almost 1,000 customers in the Ennis area also experienced a power outage following a fault on the network.
