Pressure mounts on Syria amid reports of fresh violence

The number of people alleged to have been killed in a fresh Syrian massacre has been revised downwards.

Opposition forces had initially reported that Government militiamen had killed up to 100 people – including women and children – in Hama, however,  this number has now been revised downwards to 70.

News of the latest alleged atrocity comes ahead of UN/Arab League envoy Kofi Annan’s address to the UN Security Council later today.

Mr. Annan is in New York to update diplomats at the Security Council on the faltering peace plan amid increased International calls for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to step down.

Speaking earlier, British PM David Cameron, called the al-Assad regime ‘illegitimate’ and stated that ‘we need to do more to isolate the regime.’
