A Clare government TD is expressing confidence that significant job announcements will follow the enactment of legislation to combine the Shannon Airport Authority with Shannon Development.
The bill will formally establish into law the new structures for running the Airport and it's surrounding landbank, but was initially due to be passed last year.
However, it will come before the Dáil this summer, and it's hoped-for jobs boost comes at a time when it joblessness here appears to be easing.
The live register stands at 9242, a figure which Clarecastle Fine Gael TD Joe Carey admits is still too high, though it is 800 lower than this time last year and 1,600 less than when his party came to power three years ago.
