It’s claimed that a new united local authority for Limerick will benefit the whole of the MidWest region
Members of Limerick County Council have unanimously voted in favour of a merger with Limerick City Council, as part of their submission to the Local Government Committee
However, Limerick City Councillors still prefer a proposed extension into Clare.
It’s proposed that the new unitary body would provide servises to the urbanised area of Clare on behalf of Clare County Council, while at the same time respecting County loyalties.
