It’s been proposed that householders in Clare receive two seperate water supplies.
Figures released by the council have shown that 150 litres of water is produced for every person in the county each day, all of it to a drinking standard
Almost 40% of this is lost through leakage.

Fine Gael’s Tony Mulqueen has suggested that a second, cheaper supply be introduced for non-drinking purposes in an effort to cut down on the cost of production.
He admits that it’s an idea that won’t be implemented in the near future
