It comes as the US Embassy has confirmed that the 90-day ban preventing people from entering the US on grounds of their nationality or the fact that they are refugees is being implemented at the US pre-clearance facilities at Shannon and Dublin Airports.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump has issued a statement in response to growing protests over his travel ban.

In a statement, the US Embassy has confirmed that President Trump's 90-day ban on travellers and refugees from seven muslim countries extends to pre-clearance facilities at Shannon and Dublin.

This has resulted in outrage from some groups, including ShannonWatch, which is taking part in a planned protest at the mid-west Airport from 6pm on Thursday.

It coincides with a picket against Trump's Travel Ban at the US Embassy in Dublin at the same time.

ShannonWatch insists that US authorities can't be allowed to deny refugees, asylum seekers, visa holders and even legal residents of the US their basic human rights on Irish soil.

Meanwhile, the US president says his decision to bar people from seven mainly Muslim countries "is not about religion".

Donald Trump's also hit out at Republican colleagues who've criticised him – saying they "should focus their energies on ISIS, illegal immigration and border security".

In New York, Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer fought back tears as he demanded the order to be reversed.
