Clare County Council is advising people visiting Kilkee beach today not to swim in the water.
Following advice from the HSE, the local authority has introduced a bathing advisory, after elevated levels of microbiological contamination were recorded in a routine bathing water sample yesterday evening.

The council is monitoring the situation on an ongoing basis and efforts are underway to identify the bacteria source.
