The family of a County Clare man feared dead after a plane crash in central Africa are due to fly there in the coming days.
James Cassley who grew up in Quin was among 11 people believed to have perished when their chartered aircraft went down over dense jungle at the weekend.
The wreckage was located yesterday and officials say up to 10 bodies have been retrieved.
James Cassley’s family moved to Quin from their native Antrim when he was a child – the popular 30 year old was based in London for the past 9 years but visited Quin every Christmas, and met with his parents Mona and Hector just two weeks ago at a family wedding.
Mr Cassley worked in Corporate Finance with GMP Europe’s Mining Division and was travelling on a chartered plane which disappeared between Cameroon and the Democratic Republic of Congo on Saturday
The wreckage was located yesterday and Cameroon officials say the remains of up to ten people were located.
James Cassley’s mother Mona has told Clare FM they were informed of the devastating news last night and are now being comforted by family and neighbours at their home in Quin, where James’s wife Hong was also visiting since the weekend.
Mrs Cassley described her only child as a most caring, loving and genuine person, and said losing him is the families worst nightmare.
They expect to travel to Africa in the coming days.
