Back Home Senior Fianna Fail officials from the Ennis area are to meet tonight, amid speculation of tensions within the party about the selection of candidates for next year’s local elections.
184 Fianna Fail delegates from within the Ennis Municipal District were due to meet tomorrow night to fill the party’s ticket for the vote, and the nine potential candidates had been told that four of them would be selected.

However, a senior source within Fianna Fail has told Clare FM that party headquarters has asked them to keep this to just three, a move which has caused rancour amongst some local officials.
It’s understood the matter will be discussed at a private Fianna Fail meeting this evening.
