Commercial rates and parking charges are to remain unchanged in Ennis, after the Town Council agreed on its final budget before it is abolished later this year.
The local authority’s 2014 expenditure is just under €9.6m, though last night’s meeting saw a number of money-raising proposals rejected including a plan for toilet charges to be increased, with the extra money going to Tidy Towns.
The group has received some extra money however, while supports to community organisations, events and festivals remain.
Separately today, Clare County Council meets to agree it’s budget, having secured nearly €23m in central funding this year.
The Council was to agree its budget last month, but the meeting was put off into the New Year as officials awaited the confirmation of government funding.
