Re-Opening Of Ryanair Shannon Base Dependent On Roll-Out Of Vaccine

The re-opening of Ryanair’s Shannon base this summer will be dependent on the roll-out of the Covid-19 vaccine.

The airline made a high-profile announcement in December that it is to base an aircraft at Shannon once more this summer, as well as increasing its number of flights there.

Since then, there has been a spike in COVID cases and deaths and government figures have warned that there will be little in the way of international travel over the coming months.

Ryanair boss Michael O’Leary says both the Shannon and Cork bases will re-open once 50% of the population have been vaccinated, but he expects Irish people to be travelling by summer.
