Reaction to school patronage findings

Concern has been expressed over the time frame given to The Bishop of Killaloe to come up with a plan to strip one of Shannon’s schools of its Catholic patronage.

A Department of Education survey of over 700 parents in Clare’s second town concluded that there was a viable demand for change and that one of the 9 primary schools in the area should become non denominational.

Shannon Councillor Patricia McCarthy says the desire for change by parents must be respected but expressed concern over the time frame allocated.
